Falling into the Season with Black Textures

Hello hello! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I’m starting off the week in a monotone palette of some black pieces against my pasty white skin… While I would love to completely immerse myself into some trendy pieces fit for autumn, it’s still way too hot for my to walk out the door in anything more than a breezy top, shorts, and airy shoes. (Funny how the sun completely failed to tan my skin however!) So to embrace what should be a season change, I switched up my outfit to some darker tones.

Instead of my casual grey romper that I wear everywhere, I switched it for this strappy black top that ties in the front and matched it with pleather shorts. On my lazy days when I’m unsure of what to wear, I’ve been sticking to a single color range as it keeps the look more cohesive. To complete the outfit, I have these new Melissa flats from that I’ve been meaning to try out. Can I just say… these have got to be the most comfortable flats I have ever worn. They are like walking on clouds! Anyway, here are some additional shots my boyfriend helped me take. What do you think of the look? (more…)

Playing Tourist at LACMA

823-1One  of the things I love the most about where I grew up is that no matter how long you live here in Los Angeles, there is always something new to see and do. It is a mecca of new places and events waiting to be discovered. Sticking true to this theme, I recently visited the Los Angeles Contemporary Museum of Art and played tourist for the afternoon. The coolest exhibit that I saw by far was James Turrell: A Retrospective. It’s difficult to explain, and no photography was allowed but the way Turrell played with lighting and space is incredibly … If you’re in the area, this is definitely a must-see! Other than that, my other favorite exhibit was the Metropolis II which I am attaching some photos of below (but not too many because I don’t want to spoil everything for people who have not been yet).

As far as my outfit of the day, I kept it casual and comfy (my theme in most of my wardrobe if I’m being honest…) with my favorite white crop top on top of a navy lace bralette, pleather shorts, and my trusty white Converse high-tops.  To pull the look together I also accessorized with a black statement necklace. I’m obsessed with this necklace because I really feel like it brings my outfits together from looking like I got dressed in the dark to… looking like I actually care about my appearance. Moreover, it adds a fun element to my outfits that have conservative necklines. Sometimes I even feel naked without wearing it!

Anyway, I hope everyone enjoyed their labor day weekend, and I look forward to catching up on all of your blog posts to see what you all have been up to! Now onwards to the shots of the day… (more…)
